Where Do I Begin? - Free in Christ

Click on the moving words for complete verse.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

Many are overwhelmed and feel like they may never be free.
THERE IS HOPE!

A baby does not begin walking in a week;
the baby has progressive stages of growth.

  • At first the baby struggles to lift its head.

  • Next, it struggles to just sit up.

  • With persistence, the baby begins to crawl.

  • Then it will make some attempts to stand (amusing at times).

  • Finally, it can stand by holding something.

  • Soon the child is running around on its own!

In the same way - you can take progressive steps to freedom!

What to do first

1.

Addiction tests.

Take at least one of six addiction self-tests.
2. Tell someone and begin. a. Get serious about quitting.
b. Perform steps in the "Quitter's Checklist."

c. Ask for help - (accountability ask
someone to check your progress in
    the above checklist.

3. Treat symptoms.

(Don't stop here!)

Get an Internet Filter (inexpensive &
   effective)

Accountablity is good ask someone to help you.

• Please use www.covenanteyes.com accountability service, we recommend it!

4. Move beyond  symptoms. Take daily steps to "reprogram" your mind.

• Consider what it means to "know God" and
to use God's strength to break this addiction.

• Some find help through the 60 day study at
   www.settingcaptivesfree.com

GET SUPPORT FROM OTHERS!  Be involved
with FIC - Join FIC and share with the
ENTIRE GROUP OF MEN and read the
   encouraging posts.

Freedom is a lifestyle change with an ongoing
relationship with God (it is not just an event).

• Read the book "Every Man's Battle".  You'll be glad you did!

Tackle this serious problem head-on! This unique book offers a practical battle plan for men---married or single---who desire to live by God's standard.

5. Advance preparation. Prepare in advance for temptation so you are not an easy target for this addiction.
6. Allow the time it takes.

Fight this daily

Realize you're not perfect; don't beat yourself up if you fail.  Yet don't use this as a license to binge.

Focus on one day at a time

7. Daily drink from God's well - not the sewer. If you fail, it's because you are drinking from the sewer instead of drinking water from "God's well"

8. You can't do it alone. • This addiction thrives in secrecy.  You won't
make it alone.  You need to develop humility
and be open to asking for help when
struggling - so you can have the support of
   others!

• Using your own strength will end in failure.

• You need the help of others, and God.

9. Feed yourself with truth  Read these essays and recovery stories.

• Keep a journal of your progress (what works
  and what doesn't work).

• Feed yourself spiritually each day!
